BACKSTORY
She doesn’t remember much before the Tear, as she calls it. Flashes of bright light, constant pain, and surgical masks are the only memories she can muster up, until the day her soul was ripped apart. Her memories of any previous life she might have led died in the same chamber as her original body.
She was created by Dr. Josephus Barrett, though she was a failed experiment. Barrett had intended to recreate mythical creatures from various cultures and ancient texts. He had successfully created multiple specimens, but Viviette was to be his first- human-like creation. She was intended to be a Kitsune, a fox- like shapeshifter and trickster, which often took the form of a woman with vulpine ears and nine tails. However, something went wrong during her creation, and her soul was ripped apart, creating two creatures instead of one.
While Viviette looks like what a Kitsune is expected to be, she has none of the magic that they were known to have. She has no ability to change her appearance, and in fact is plagued by the fox parts. The other half of her soul took the shape of a red fox, which the Doctor named Shiri. This fox inherited all the spirit power and magic of the Kitsune, but could not alter her physical form, rendering her a failure as well. The pair managed to escape the lab, after discovering their split soul allowed them a form of telepathy with one another. Working together, they had managed to overpower the Doctor and his attendants, and flee the facility.
The pair have been on the run ever since, fearful that Barrett will track them down and either destroy them, or use them for further experimentation.
